DOCTOBER, OFFICIAL SELECTION PRESENTED BY WWU POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT Despite its snowy, mountainous terrain, Afghanistan has never been among the world’s great ski destinations. However, former Afghan Olympic hopeful Alishah Farhang wants to change that, founding a ski club in the ancient mountain town of Bamyan and organizing the annual Afghan Ski Challenge race. Friends and on-slope rivals Mujtaba and Hussain Ali may be using outdated equipment and hiking to earn their turns, but they have big dreams of becoming ski champions—until the 2021 collapse of the Afghan government causes one of them to flee the country to an uncertain future.Champions of the Golden Valley showing at: October 24, 5:30 pm
