Mediha

DOCTOBER, OFFICIAL SELECTION CO-PRESENTED BY Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services of Whatcom County (DVSAS) + BELLINGHAM HUMAN RIGHTS FILM FESTIVAL + WWU POLITICAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT At first glance, Mediha is like any other teenager. But her life has been far from normal. A member of northern Iraq’s Yazidi ethnic and religious minority, Mediha is kidnapped from her home in 2014 by ISIS, sold into sexual slavery, and narrowly survives a genocide. This documentary is her account, pieced together from video diaries. Traumatized, grief-stricken, and with the whereabouts of most of her family unknown, she has lived several lives in her short years. But as this film illustrates, Mediha is the master of her own story, and she is determined to write what comes next.DocumentaryPT1H30M2024-10-17
