In addition to Barbie and Oppenheimer, a quick reminder that the final film of our Rooftop series, Hot Girl Summer, Mad Max: Fury Road, will be playing on top of the Commercial St. parking garage this Friday, August 11. Fury Road is one of the best action films of the last decade, with a fabulous performance from Charlize Theron, playing the one-armed Furiosa. The party starts at 7 pm, and the movie starts at dusk. As always, our Rooftop films are free. Bring a chair --and a blanket for the evening chill --and let the fun begin!  

Finally, be sure to snap up a ticket or two for the next film in our popular monthly Studio Ghibli series, Kiki’s Delivery Service, playing four times this week, three dubbed screenings and a one subtitled screening: this Saturday afternoon (1:30 pm); Sunday morning (10 am); Wednesday morning (10 am); and Wednesday evening, subtitled (7:45 pm). Kiki is one of Hayao Miyazaki’s lesser-seen films perhaps, compared to others like My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away, but it’s no less inventive, showcasing the stunning creativity of the Ghibli team, and much like Totoro, it is gentle enough for younger children but designed to delight everyone with its endearing characters, emotional depth, and beautiful animation. Don’t miss the chance to see it on the big screen!
